Energy saving appliances for home

A new generation of appliances can help to significantly reduce the consumption of electricity in the home. Of course, it is inconceivable to immediately replace all existing devices with energy-saving ones, but even the gradual replacement of outdated or outdated equipment can help improve the energy consumption parameters in the house.

Energy saving appliances

Refrigerators

energy saving refrigerators

The first energy-efficient appliances we look at can save a lot of money by reducing energy consumption in the home. After all, these devices work day and night, so it is better to choose them carefully. These are refrigerators. The technological innovations of almost all manufacturers are inverter motors. They are very quiet and allow you to regulate the power consumption of the device, avoiding peaks in consumption. By keeping the temperature constant and even, it was possible to optimize energy consumption and increase the efficiency of refrigerators.
Several manufacturers have developed a technology with which you can better preserve food by differentiating ventilation in different compartments. The release of active oxygen in modern models prevents the formation of bacteria. The energy-saving refrigerators made by the South Korean company, in turn, use insulating panels more efficiently. They are much thinner than the materials used just a few years ago. This means that modern refrigerators have become more energy efficient. More space for food, but less energy consumption for cooling it. Recently, American researchers ranked refrigerators accordingly in the leading positions in the ranking of energy savings. These energy saving appliances consume the same as a 20W lamp. This result was achieved thanks to effective insulation, gaskets, new variable speed compressors and, again, the shape and position of the evaporator and condenser.

The results of other studies conducted in the USA may convince even the most indecisive to change the refrigerator. In 12 years after purchasing a new model, the reduction in energy costs relative to an old appliance can be several hundred dollars. The most energy efficient models are those with a freezer at the top of the refrigerator. At the same time, side-by-side refrigerators have the worst energy efficiency indicators.

Dishwashers

From a technological point of view, modern dishwashers not only use less energy, but also much less water, and adjustable baskets allow you to optimize the load. German manufacturers also use the properties of natural zeolite, a mineral that absorbs moisture during washing and releases it as steam during drying, making the last step of the cycle faster and more efficient.

Washing machines

Modern washing machines provide differentiated wash cycles to reduce water and detergent consumption. Extensive research has shown that the cleaning process does not depend on the temperature of the water and the detergent used, but is a consequence of the mechanical action of the drum. In this regard, new solutions have appeared, for example, the washing machines developed by the company introduce air bubbles into the drum, which allow the detergent to penetrate better into fabrics and wash well even in cold water.

Induction cookers

Induction hobs are becoming more and more popular, even among the lines of energy-saving appliances. They cook food by creating an electromagnetic field that only heats the bottom of the cookware. As a result, there is no energy loss. You save money, considering that the efficiency of these devices reaches 95%, while in conventional gas stoves there are leaks of the order of 30-60%.

Vacuum cleaners

How do you convert watts into the useful work of a vacuum cleaner? Not much if the vacuum system is not efficient. The only thing you can tell by looking at the watts indicated on the energy label is the energy absorption. But what if all this energy is being used inefficiently? New energy-saving appliances provide good guarantees. Vacuum cleaner models with cyclone technology have the advantage of not having a dust bag. The suction power remains unchanged, from which the energy efficiency of the apparatus benefits.

Energy efficiency label

After making sure that the appliances can help save energy in the house, all that remains is to choose the right model. There are many offers, and it is not so easy to navigate. The first thing to do is pay attention to the energy efficiency label, which gives a clear idea of energy consumption.

The horizontal arrows at the top indicate the energy efficiency class, which can range from A +++ (best) to G (worst). The color of the arrows also indicates the degree of energy efficiency of the equipment: from red for high energy consumption classes to dark green for the most energy efficient appliances. The arrows show the energy consumption in kWh per year based on laboratory tests, that is, under optimal conditions. Knowing the cost of electricity, you can easily determine the annual cost of electricity, which obviously also depends on the mode of use of the device.
